Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. You will be greeted by a representative who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. Take the rest of the day to relax and prepare for the safari journey ahead. If time allows, visit Nairobi’s attractions, such as the Giraffe Centre or the Karen Blixen Museum.
Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its flamingos and rich birdlife. Experience a game drive in search of rhinos, leopards, lions, and Rothschild’s giraffes. In the afternoon, visit the lake to observe wildlife and take in the stunning scenery. Overnight near the park.
Day 3: Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, travel to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival, enjoy a short game drive en route to your lodge. The reserve is home to the Big Five and a variety of other wildlife. In the evening, unwind at the lodge and admire the sweeping views of the savannah.
Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve
Spend the entire day exploring Masai Mara. Experience the excitement of game drives and, if visiting between July and October, you may witness the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras. Optional activities include a hot air balloon safari at sunrise or a visit to a Maasai village to learn about their culture and way of life.
Day 5: Border Crossing to Tanzania, Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive to the Isebania border post to cross into Tanzania. Continue to the Serengeti National Park, with a game drive along the way to your lodge. This iconic park is celebrated for its vast plains and diverse wildlife. Overnight in the Serengeti.
Day 6: North Serengeti Game Drives
Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti, exploring different areas of the park. The Serengeti ecosystem provides unique opportunities to observe predators, grazers, and rare species in their natural environment. Be on the lookout for cheetahs, elephants, and the elusive leopard.
Day 7: North Serengeti National Park
Continue exploring the Serengeti with another day of game drives. Discover areas such as the Seronera Valley, teeming with year-round wildlife, or the Grumeti River, where crocodiles and hippos can be spotted. Capture unforgettable photos of the landscapes and wildlife.
Day 8: Serengeti National Park
Dedicate another full day to discovering the Serengeti. Take time to appreciate the park’s diverse habitats, from open plains to rocky outcrops known as kopjes. Depending on the season, you might encounter the Great Migration or witness predator-prey interactions.
Day 9: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After a morning game drive, leave the Serengeti and head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, consider a stop at Olduvai Gorge, a significant archaeological site. Arrive at your lodge near the crater rim, where you can enjoy striking views of the caldera.
Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a sanctuary for wildlife, including black rhinos, lions, hyenas, and large herds of wildebeest and zebras. Pause for a picnic lunch at a picturesque spot inside the crater before returning to your lodge to relax.
Day 11: Tarangire National Park
Travel to Tarangire National Park, known for its giant baobab trees, impressive elephant herds, and seasonal wetlands. Enjoy game drives through the park’s varied landscapes, which support a wide range of wildlife. Spend your final night in the African wilderness, reflecting on your safari experience.
