The Maasai Market is a haven for lovers of street shopping. Located near the Arusha Clock Tower in Arusha City, visitors are in for a treat with more than 100 stalls that sell everything from local arts and crafts to souvenirs and quirky jewelry. A must-visit, this colorful market is ideal for those who love to bargain.
The clock tower was built by Galanos, a Greek millionaire who came to Tanganyika in the early years of the 20th century. It is believed that the Arusha Clock Tower is located exactly between Cairo and Cape Town and is considered the center point of the three countries of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. It is the meeting point for both locals and tourists.
Cultural Heritage is a unique cultural center on the outskirts of Arusha. They have curio shops, a jewelry boutique, a tanzanite and precious stone counter, a restaurant, a bargain center, and an outstanding commercial art gallery. They have a vast array of ornaments, jewelry, antiques, and local crafts to cater to any budget. High-quality clothing, textiles, accessories, books, and spices can also be found onsite at Oneway and the Spice Centre.
You will be picked up at 9:00 AM from your hotel, ready for the walking tour to the Arusha clock tower, Maasai market, and Cultural Heritage. This tour will be 70% walking and 30% driving, especially when visiting Arusha’s cultural heritage. The driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel and brief you about the entire tour while walking to the Arusha clock tower (which marks the exact midpoint between Cairo and Cape Town). After exploring the Clock Tower, you will then walk to the Maasai Market for souvenirs and break for lunch before driving to the Arusha Cultural Heritage for the stunning collection of diverse cultural art crafts from parts of Tanzania. After the tour of the cultural heritage, you drive back to the hotel or airport with extra charges, depending on your schedule, and call it a day.
