A 7-day self-drive safari in Tanzania is an incredible adventure, offering the freedom to explore the country’s stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife at your own pace. The package is designed for people looking to explore Tanzania’s national parks without the driver guide, which means they will be in charge of their own driving. If there are four people traveling together, one of them will be driving the car; however, there is room to hire a driver-guide with extra charges of $25 per day otherwise you see some of our private-guided packages for your consideration. Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
- Morning: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and pick up your 4×4 rental vehicle.
- Afternoon: Check into your hotel in Arusha. Rest and prepare for your safari. If time allows, explore the town and visit local markets.
- Evening: Overnight stay in Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
- Morning: Drive to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2 hours).
- Afternoon: Enjoy a game drive in Tarangire, known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees.
- Evening: Overnight stay at a lodge or campsite within or near the park.
Day 3: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
- Morning: Early morning game drive in Tarangire.

Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
- Morning: Early morning game drive in the Serengeti.
- Late Morning: Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater (approx. 3-4 hours).
- Afternoon: Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities.
- Evening: Overnight stay at a lodge or campsite on the crater rim.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
- Morning: Drive back to Arusha (approx. 3-4 hours).
- Afternoon: Return your rental vehicle and prepare for departure. If time allows, do some last-minute shopping or sightseeing.
- Evening: Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
